Almost instant happiness 2

Whatever we do today is raw material for our future happiness or sadness, but only raw material. The big effect is not immediate. Independently of if we do bad things or good things, the main effect regarding happiness is not instant.
If we feel happy doing things today, it depends on actions we did earlier. The things we do today may trigger the experience of happiness, but the happenings today are not the experience itself.
Normally we have a potential for different experiences, ranging from happiness to sadness. If we have no potential for happiness, we can not experience happiness even if the good events taking place are drastic.
So happiness is an almost instant process. Our actions today will give happiness tomorrow and later, but not today.
This delay can give problems. If we do bad things today while feeling fine from earlier good actions, we will suffer tomorrow. The suffering will come as a surprise, as we felt so fine during the action.
The ideal is a continuous process of doing good, where we are happy because the good things we did yesterday and where we prepare for a new day of happiness by doing good now.

Water, sand or stone 2

The inner enemy is our own favourite ideas. We keep them as holograms in our mind. Often they are very fragile constructs, built on dreams, wishes, partial memories, pieces of observations and knowledge...
We have a strong instinct to defend them while attacked. They might be extremely vulnerable. When they are challenged it hurts, as if they had nerves.
Sometimes our inner holograms are related to external facts in complicated ways. Ownership and authority can be linked. It makes things more complicated.
Actions and ideas of other people can also influence our holograms, sometimes making them stronger, sometimes weakening them.
If we have very strong holograms we are daring and can do a lot. That is often considered positive.
Are realistic holograms to be preferred? Yes, what is realistic? The knowledge of our limitations or of our potential?
