Rationality 2

Rationality can be transcended in two rational ways, by surprise or by remembering.
Surprise is the simple way, as when natural catastrophes or political revolutions turn the situation over. Remembering is when we feel a taste forgotten or hear a piece of music reminding of another reality.
To arrange for surprise is easy. Fashion is a systematic surprise business. Things should look new now and outdated tomorrow.
To transcend rationality and reach more subtle levels of reality is more difficult. But it is more rewarding. It is timeless, for ever. The music of Bach and Mozart is getting better and better over the years. Instead of surprise effect, it is the effect of deeper and deeper awareness of truth and compassion.

Better 2

Deceit, secrecy and violence might seem to be rational methods in a body-based world view. In the extreme form we see it in war fare strategy. In a disguised form we find it in many societies and many sub cultures.
In a mind-based world view however, the best methods are communication, openness, information and argument.
The body-based world view is the first one we find when we grow up. The mind-based view is not quite natural. It must be cultivated in order to be reached. But it can be reached by all.
Which is best? Well every individual must choose individually. It is no use saying that the mind-based view is better if no one tries to reach it.
There are some difficulties in seeking the mind-based view. One difficulty is self purification. Many stunts which are natural in the body-based view are quite sad in a mind-based view.
In a body based view we might think "I am not angry often. I am only angry when it is particularly justified". In a mind-based view, the principle is "When it seems and feels particularly justified to be angry, it is particularly good not to be angry".

Hard work 2

Mind has a potential for growth, joy and happiness - so that is uninteresting...who cares?

But mind is the biggest threat to humanity, our worst enemy ever, the most extreme villain trying to make you suffer in every possible way ... so we better take care!

This was only the sales speak.

But mind is the biggest threat to humanity. The natural forces are not dangerous. Even earth quakes and tsunamis can be handled. But direct and indirect effects of mind misuse is difficult.

Our normal life is a low-level struggle with our own short comings in combination with the short comings of others. Sometimes the intensity is increased as in war, heavy crime or terrorism.

We can train our mind by solving external problems, but that is time consuming. If we start with mind itself, external problems will be solved automatically.

It is difficult enough to deal with the own mind. But the real problem is the processes in the minds of others.

Mind is smart and it will find the best solution by itself. If we interfere in the life of others, we often make the mind lock in a negative position. The extreme example is in Guantanamo bay where some detainees are checked against suicide every three minutes, day and night.

If we try to force the mind of someone, it reacts negatively. If we instead use mind rationally, we get a rational response.

But should we be rational or biased? Bias is the historical attitude, but rationality is for the future.
