Clothes are material objects and they are also symbols. They have this double existence. In the old days the material quality was very important, but clothes have also been used for expressing personality and social status during history.
According to madhyamaka prasangika, mind is the most important aspect of clothes and of everything else.
To design clothes materially is obviously an art, and to make clothes that fit the minds of the global population is also an art.
Is there any difference if we stress the object side or the symbol side?
The mysteries of the mind are more of a challenge than the material issues. We can approach the mind in many different ways, through fashion, music, general knowledge and through pure analysis.
Fashion is for many associated with superficial layers of mind, while the philosophy analyses deeper layers.
